Stormtap Studios is owned and operated by myself, Robert Hawkey, a programmer with 10 years experience working on multiple platforms with many different programming languages. I have a Bachelor of Computer Science from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Science from Saint Mary's University. I began my programming career in the video game industry, working as a generalist on low level features and engine programming. I worked my way up to leading projects both as a game director and in technical leadership roles for several projects. My experience in the video game industry has taught me a great deal about developing for custom hardware. It also trained me to pay rigorous attention to detail in order to write efficient error-free code suitable for release on consoles that can't be updated. I also developed excellent organizational skills and an innate drive to see my products through to a high quality finish within tight deadlines.

In 2009 I left the game industry to form Stormtap Studios, with a focus on developing applications for mobile platforms, specifically the iPhone and iPod Touch. Since then Stormtap has published two applications, Photo Resize and Whose Turn Is It, and has completed several iPhone development contracts. In the coming year, Stormtap will continue to blend self published application work with contracting as opportunities come up.
